Most of my clients are contractors and local service businesses, so when Google changes how a homeowner finds and hires a plumber or a roofer, I pay close attention. On November 4, 2026, Google added direct booking links for home services inside AI Mode, its conversational search experience. Here is what I know so far, what I do not know yet, and what I think is worth doing now.
What changed
Robby Stein, a Vice President of Product for Google Search, announced on November 4 that AI Mode now has direct links to research and book home services through partners including Angi, Thumbtack, Housecall Pro and Jobber, with ServiceTitan coming soon. It is live now in the U.S. He described using it himself after a sewer line backed up at his house: AI Mode compared local prices, checked reviews, recommended plumbers, and he booked one who came out and fixed it.
So when someone asks AI Mode for help with a home repair, the businesses it suggests can now come with a way to book or request a quote right from the results. That booking runs through one of those partner platforms.
The partners have published their own details:
- Jobber. Jobber's help center says the integration is available at no extra cost to U.S. businesses with an active, paid Jobber subscription, and that trial accounts cannot appear. A business needs the "Help clients find my business" setting turned on, a full street address in Jobber, a Google Business Profile connected to Jobber at that same address, and a request or booking form connected to Google. Jobber says there are no lead fees for these requests, and that collecting client reviews regularly helps Google AI Mode decide which businesses to recommend.
- Housecall Pro. Housecall Pro says all of its users will be eligible to appear in AI Mode at no additional cost, with requests going straight to the pro's Housecall Pro inbox and no lead fees or bidding. Its announcement describes the integration as coming soon.
- Angi. Angi says that when a homeowner selects an Angi pro in AI Mode, they go to that pro's Angi profile to learn more and request a quote.
- Thumbtack and ServiceTitan. Google named Thumbtack as a partner and said ServiceTitan is coming soon. I have not seen published details from either one yet.
What we do not know yet
Google has not explained how AI Mode chooses which home service businesses to recommend, or whether a business has to use one of these partners to be recommended at all. I would treat anything you read claiming otherwise with caution until Google publishes it.
What I recommend for contractors
- Get your Google Business Profile right. Jobber's requirements tie directly to your profile: the same address, verified and connected. A profile with the correct name, address, phone, service area, categories, and hours is the foundation for everything else.
- If you already use one of these platforms, check your settings. Make sure your account is connected to the right Google Business Profile and that the booking or request form you want customers to use is the one linked to Google. Jobber suggests linking a booking form, not only a request form, so people can pick a time directly.
- Keep earning reviews. Jobber says reviews help AI Mode decide whom to recommend. Steady, honest reviews were already important, and this makes them more so.
- Keep your own website strong. Platforms come and go. Your website, with clear service pages and accurate structured data (the JSON-LD code that describes your business to search engines), is the asset you own.
A ten minute check you can do today
You do not need to hire anybody for this part.
- Search your business name on Google and open your Business Profile. Compare the address, phone and hours to what is in Jobber, Housecall Pro or Angi. They should match exactly, down to "Suite" versus "Ste."
- Open AI Mode and ask it the way a customer would, for example "my water heater is leaking, who can fix it in San Jose." Note which businesses come up and whether they have booking links. Try it again in a week. You are not trying to game it, just learning what your customers see.
- Look at your last ten Google reviews. If the newest one is months old, set up a simple habit of asking every happy customer at the end of the job.
This is exactly the kind of groundwork my $750 Search Visibility Setup covers: Google Business Profile cleanup, LocalBusiness schema, Search Console, and making sure search engines and AI tools can read your site. I cannot promise any business will be recommended by AI Mode, since Google decides that, but I can make sure nothing on your end is holding you back.
